South Florida has long been a breeding ground for elite tennis talent, but few hometown success stories have captured the hearts of fans quite like Coco Gauff. Now, the Delray Beach native is making headlines for a groundbreaking move that extends far beyond the baseline. Gauff has officially become a player-owner of the Florida Flamingos Racquet Club as World Team Tennis relaunches, adding yet another impressive chapter to her rapidly evolving legacy.

The World Team Tennis announcement represents more than a new competitive opportunity. It places one of South Florida's most celebrated athletes directly in the business side of professional sports. As a player-owner with the Florida Flamingos, Gauff will help shape the future of a franchise while competing in front of fans in her home region.

The team is scheduled to host matches at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, giving South Florida tennis fans a rare opportunity to watch one of their own compete close to home.

The tennis superstar grew up in Delray Beach, a city recognized worldwide for its deep tennis culture and thriving sports community. From public courts to professional tournaments, Delray Beach helped cultivate the environment that launched one of the sport's brightest stars. World Team Tennis officials also highlighted Gauff's continued commitment to her hometown, including community initiatives, youth development efforts, and support for local tennis programs.

Gauff will compete in Florida Flamingos’ home matches at Amerant Bank Arena on Monday, December 14, and Tuesday, December 15, where she is slotted to play against Victoria Mboko of Toronto North and Jessica Pegula of the New York Empire in the projected lineups.

“Growing the sport through team competition and making it more accessible are two things I love, and WTT does both,” said Gauff. “I’m looking forward to playing at home in front of my family and friends in South Florida. It’s not often, as a tennis player, that we get to compete as part of a team, so I’m excited for the new experience, not only for myself but, even more importantly, for the fans.”

Gauff joins a star-studded Florida Flamingos lineup featuring Tommy Paul, Learner Tien, Brandon Nakashima, Iva Jovic, and Eva Lys. She also headlines a revamped World Team Tennis season alongside top names such as Jessica Pegula (Boca Raton), Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Victoria Mboko, Leylah Fernandez, and Denis Shapovalov.

Returning this December, World Team Tennis is reimagining the fan experience by packing eight elite players into a match format that traditionally showcases only two. Each team contest includes four singles matches and a mixed doubles Supertiebreaker, creating fast-paced, high-pressure action with men and women contributing equally to every result.

TRIPLE THREAT ON & OFF COURT- ENTREPRENEUR- OWNER -PLAYER

In addition to becoming a player-owner with the Florida Flamingos, Gauff recently established Coco Gauff Enterprises, her own business and management company. The venture allows her to take direct ownership of her professional career, personal brand, business ventures, and philanthropic initiatives, while operational support is provided through WME Sports. Rather than simply being represented by others, Gauff is positioning herself as an executive decision-maker and long-term builder of her own business empire. That mindset reflects a growing trend among elite athletes who want a seat at the ownership table, but Gauff's approach feels uniquely authentic to South Florida's entrepreneurial spirit. Across Palm Beach County, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, innovation, investment, and personal branding have become part of the regional culture. Gauff is embracing all three.

For South Florida residents, this announcement is about more than tennis. It is a story about local roots, leadership, and the next generation of athlete entrepreneurs. At just 22 years old, Gauff is already proving that modern sports stars can be competitors, investors, founders, and community champions all at once.

As World Team Tennis prepares for its return and the Florida Flamingos take center stage, South Florida will be watching proudly. Coco Gauff is no longer just representing the region on the court. She's helping build its future from the ownership suite as well.
