Movember is a fun annual event involving the growing of moustaches and facial hair during the month of ("No Shave") November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's mental health. Partipants also ask friends & family to sponsor them and all monies from the fundraiser go toward men's health issues and further research to save lives.
According to the Movember Foundation,
"Men are facing a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. They are dying too young, before their time. We’re taking action and we need your help. We want to give more life to our fathers and sons.”
The organization is the only global charity focused solely on men’s health.
Men and women alike can have fun embracing this Movember by being active. It’s what they call MOVE. Set a distance goal at the start of the month, and walk, run, cycle, swim or row your way to achieving it. You can raise much needed funds for men’s health while you’re at it.
Movember began in Australia in 2003 to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancers, according to the Movember Foundation, a nonprofit that raised nearly $21 million in 2013.
